NORTHERN COMMUNITY SHARE
Come along to our next Ncs ... Meet other locals, share stories, build community. Share your excess produce. Swap those unwanted clothes and books. Shuffle those seeds and cuttings. Please download & read the information below for further details.
Welcome to the Northern Community Share.
This event is open to anyone who would like to create and get to know their community through sharing excess produce, swapping those unwanted clothes and books or shuffling seeds and cuttings.
Everyone offers their items to the whole community in good faith. This is not a barter system; no money is to exchange hands, and no resellers, please.
We ask that you please make the effort to donate a gold coin into the donations tin upon entry to help cover the costs of hall hire, tea, coffee, sugar, milk etc. If you’re really strapped for cash, then drop 50 cents into the tin.
So how does it work?
* Bring your items, and place them on the table.
* Bring your own mug and help yourself to a tea or a coffee.
* Have a look what others have placed on the table and have a chat with like-minded people.
* At 11.00am, everyone will be invited to select items from the table that are of interest to them. If you see items elsewhere, please do not take them, only items on the table are being GIFTED. There will be no taking of items before this time.
* When it comes to selecting items to take home, please remember that you are “sharing” with others, so Fair Usage Policy applies.
* At 11.30am anything that you have brought that wasn’t taken, is to go home with you. Remember, just because the item/s you brought to share on the day weren’t taken, doesn’t mean they might not be wanted at the next Community Share. If you have items that aren’t being appreciated at a Community Share, do please try advertising on Gumtree, other Facebook pages or taking them to the Stirling Recycle Centre in Balcatta, before adding them to Landfill.
* 11.45am pack away.

Common Questions
• What if I don’t have anything to bring to put on the table? Then bring a nice morning tea, or a nice jar of coffee (think Moccona or equivalent) to add to our stash, or some tea bags and sugar.
• Can I arrive late? Sure, but you’ll miss the opportunity to socialise with others over a cuppa and browse the tables before the 11.00am swap, shuffle and share. If you arrive after 11.30am, than I’m afraid you’ve missed out on the fun.
• Can I help? Absolutely, this is run by Volunteers, and at the moment there are 6 of us.
• What if I’m looking for something in particular? There will be a post on Transition Town Stirling Facebook page a week before the event as a reminder to people. This is your chance to tell us what you’re looking for, OR what you may be bringing to gauge interest. If you are bringing a particular item for someone that has requested it, please put it on the table, but clearly mark it with the name of the person it’s intend for.
• How often is the Community Share happening? At this moment, the aim is to run it seasonally to gauge community interest, with the possibility of it occurring more often IF there is a need/want for it, and there are enough Volunteers to help run it.
• Where will these events be advertised? The Community Share will be advertised and the event created on the Transition Town Stirling Facebook page and on the Facebook pages of other community groups that share similar interests with the permission of their administration teams. We will also be advertised in the West Stirling Neighbourhood House newsletter.
• Fair Usage Policy. Please be aware that if you are found to be taking advantage of the “Fair Usage Policy” you will be asked to leave the event, by one of the Volunteers.
